2nd Grade Tier 3 Reading
Word Work- We have worked with the sounds for ch, sh, wh and th. We have highlighted vowel clusters such as: ou, ow, oo, oi, and oy. We are adding the endings -s, -ing, and -ed to base words. We sorted words by the vowel combos -ear and -eat.Word Bags- We have added the following words to our bags: gave, again, even, never, away, upset, thing, why, from, these, both, asked, done, many most, sure, everyone, great, grew, next, while, other, over, dear, seat, after and across.
Writing- We are working on summarizing the stories we read in our writing journals.
Reading- Keep reading the books that come home each day!!!
1st Grade Tier 2 Reading
Word Work- We continue to review letter sound recognition. We learned a vowel poem to and are practicing short vowels. We practiced reading a variety of CVC words.
Word Bags- We have added the following words to our word bags: the, like, see, he, has, she, then, for, but, am, said and little.
Writing- We sorted letters by shape to help us understand their orientation on the page. In our writing journals we are writing simple sentences that relate to our stories that we read.
Reading- Keep reading the books that come home each day!!!
Kindergarten Tier 3 Reading
Word Work- We learned the poems "Apples", "I Love Chocolate" and "Rain on the Rooftops". We built name puzzles and compared letters with our friends. We are working on rhyming using picture cards, this would be a good activity to practice at home.
Word Bag- We have added the following words: I, can, see,
Vocabulary- Comparing big and little -Names of animals and their babies- Over/Under
-Body Parts
Writing- We are writing sentences together on the whiteboard related to stories we have read. We are beginning to transfer some of our ideas to our writing journal. We are enjoying adding our own illustrations to our sentences.
Reading- We have read many books including: At The Market, Rex, Funny Things, The Baby Animals, Over the River and My Big Bear. Keep practicing these stories as they come home. After reading return them back in their bag.
