Reading- Our song for the week was December. We worked on the letters and sounds for w and v. We made a walrus and a vulture. Popcorn words for the week were: ran, into, & for. We are working on sounding out simple CVC words, using all of the letters that we have learned thus far.
Math- We continued to work on numbers 0-10. We matched numbered apples to their stems. We played a bean bag toss game and determined greater and lesser numbers. We also used a "10-frame" and counted cats.
On Friday, we made some reindeer using graph paper.

We completed filling in our short vowel chart using short u words. We began to talk about word chunks this week we worked with -at, -an, -et, -en, -am, and -ad. The students are doing a great job of reading their daily leveled books. I hope you are enjoying them as well. We had our progress monitor day on Friday rather than Thursday this week so there is no homework this weekend.
