RTI- 1st grade tier 3 reading
The students have been busy reading a variety of books.  Continue to reread these as they come home in the red pouch during the week.  As we begin to focus on writing responses to what we read, I am noticing that some students don't understand the difference between upper and lower case letters.  When reading, have your child locate the uppercase letters.  Discuss why that letter was used within the text.

This week we read a variety of poems and highlighted the rhyming words in them.  We began building an ABC linking chart to review all letters/sounds.  We read the stories, "Waking Up", "Frog Food" and "The New Puppy".  As we read these books the students will bring them home to reread in their red book pockets.  Please take the take to enjoy listening to your child read these stories.  At times they will come home 2 days in a row.  It is great to reread books, it builds confidence and helps with fluency!!
